For as long as I can remember, dogs have been a part of my family. Sparky, Jake, Amber, Angel . . . all beautiful, loving, playful Labrador Retrievers. They couldn't wait for us to come home from school or work and play fetch. And for as long as I can remember, every one of them consistently ran away, forcing me, my parents, my sisters, and eventually, my wife, to mobilize and scour the neighborhood looking for them. Sparky, especially, thought she was playing one heck of a fun game. The minute that door opened and no one was looking, she'd shoot out into the night (it was usually an after-dinner event). From there, we had the routine down: Open the garage door, grab the milk-bones, and drive around the neighborhood (sometimes for hours) hoping to find Sparky and bring her safely home. If only we could have pinpointed Sparky's location. We'd have zoomed right over to pick her up -- and saved hours of worry. While in graduate school, I found myself worrying about the same thing. That's when four friends and I came up with the idea of PinPoint. Together we created and refined the initial business plan.
